Post Your Project

Set your price and project details, upload MIDI and audio files, and send a message to session musicians across the US.

Start a New Project

Log in to Performidi. Look for the New Project section in the center of the screen. Fill in the required information and click Get Auditions to start the audition process.

Add Project Details

Add basic project information — instrument, genre, key, and BPM. Be sure to include any relevant notes on preferred playing style, unconventional time signatures, different requirements for each song section, etc.

Upload MIDI and Audio Files

To upload your files, you can:

  1. drag and drop your files, or
  2. click on the Choose MIDI File or Choose Audio File buttons.

The Performidi® platform is built to work based on MIDI file uploads alone. Audio files are recommended to add context for the musicians working on your recording, but they are not required. If you choose to add an audio file, a rough bounce of your current track will do. Don't worry about your music getting leaked. Our musicians sign NDAs (Non-Disclosure Agreements) to help prevent your music from being reused or shared.

If you're not sure how to export a MIDI file from your DAW, our resource, How to Export MIDI Files from Your DAW, has step-by-step instructions for exporting MIDI files from each of the most popular DAWs.

Set Your Price and Project Timeframe

Select a price anywhere between $5 and $100 (1-20 Midibucks). Your price setting impacts the quality and quantity of musicians that accept your project. Our most highly-rated musicians get priority access to projects with the highest bids, meaning that well-funded projects have a much greater likelihood of receiving multiple auditions from top talent.

Project timeframes can be set anywhere from 1 day to 2 weeks, though you may receive the first of your auditions in as little as a few hours. Longer project timeframes give your project a better chance to get accepted by multiple musicians, while shorter project timeframes will speed up the recording process.

Get Auditions

Select Get Auditions to post your project, and our session musicians will get to work. You can see all your new projects under Pending Projects. Once a musician has accepted your project, you will see it under Projects in Progress. Sit back and relax while musicians work on your auditions!

Review and Select Your Auditions

Listen, review, and download your favorite of up to 3 musicians' auditions. That's all, project complete!

View Your New Auditions

Your new auditions will appear in the Projects In Progress section and within your notifications. After receiving your first audition, you can review and select it for download right away, or you can wait for the remainder of your project's timeframe for more auditions from other musicians. Once you review and make your selections, we will notify the musicians who were selected, as well as any who are still working on an audition. They may still submit an audition, so the best practice is to check back in case there is an even better, more fitting performance for your project. Don't worry; we'll email you when a musician submits a new audition.

Hear and Review Your Auditions

Within the Projects in Progress section or your notifications, you will find a list of all your projects that have been accepted by at least one musician. Click on a project in the list to see audition status, and once available, listen, review, and, select your completed auditions for download. To help us make Performidi better, we ask that you review each completed recording before choosing your favorites for purchase and download. The review process takes just a few seconds — no writing required.

Select Your Auditions

Select your favorite audition, or select multiple auditions for download. If the audition is usable as is, you can select and download your recording immediately. You can also message the Performer whose audition you selected to collaborate on revisions if you want to refine the performance or get another take.

To achieve a more professional sound or add instant stereo width, we suggest selecting two auditions for double-tracking. If you select multiple auditions, you can collaborate on revisions with each of the Performers whose auditions you selected.

Download Your Recordings

Once you have confirmed the selection of your favorite auditions, download buttons will appear on the right side of the Audition Playback. After closing a project, if you need to access or download the recordings or other project files, you can find them in the My Recordings section linked at the top of your User Profile section on the home page.

View Past Recordings

To see your recordings after closing your project, click the My Recordings link under your username at the top of the User Profile section. From here, you can see a list of all your closed projects and their receipts. If you click on a project from this list, it will bring up a full view where you can see all the project details and download any of the project's files. You can also message previously selected musicians to request new revisions.

If you want to download a different audition than the one(s) you selected or work with a different musician on revisions, you can reopen the project by clicking the Reopen Project and Select New Audition button next to the Audition Playback.
